The Five Founders

The Five Founders
There was a time when Magic was a thing of danger, and should be feared. A time when the wolves were just that, wolves. They rejected magic of all forms, and feared it as well. But there were times when a wolf would be born with strange powers. Wings, markings that glowed, control of certain elements, strange colors. These pups were left to die without help.
But some survived. They were loners, staying away from all others, even avoiding others like themselves.
But at last, five special wolves had had enough.
Moon, a bulky wolf, with thick, shaggy fur and red eyes. He gathered the other wolves who-like him had a strange ability to blend into the darkness with perfection. The wolves he gathered were sly, sneaky, and secretive.
Sky, a long, lean, pale blue female. Thick feathered wings adorned her back. She gathered those who could dominate the sky with ease. These wolves were free spirits, carefree and devil-may-care.
Fauna was a deep brown wolf, dotted with gray and brown. A green marking adorned the area under her eye. She gathered those that had a special relationship with the land and creatures around them. These wolves were grounded and logical, down to earth and clear.
Hydro, a deep gray wolf, with short, thin fur. He was much smaller and sleeker than the others, and gathered the wolves who had a relationship with water. These wolves were free and easygoing. They went with the flow, and were difficult to rile.
And finally Ice. She was the largest of them all, with much longer fur. A baby blue with longer claws, and an ability to withstand extreme cold and control of ice. The wolves she gathered were cold and resilient, unrelenting.
These five formed the five packs today, and dominated the land. With the wolves with powers now living and surviving, the packs grew in numbers and dominated the other wolves, who retreated to the small corners of the land, barren and inhospitable.
Moon took the shadowed forests where he could use his powers to their fullest. Sky took the rocky cliffs, where she had a clear view of the sky and could go there with ease. Fauna took the rich forests, full of plant and animal life. Hydro took the lakes and rivers. Ice took the cold mountains where only she and her pack could survive.
Each pack went it's own way, and promised to maintain touch. Every day, when there was no moon, they would gather to remind each other of the trust the five founders needed to maintain in order to overcome the challenges they faced.
Their traditions continue today.
