Settling pack dominance
"What the was that about?" Cordath calmly asked when he and shine were alone again, until then he ad held his tongue knowing that a conflict between alphas in front of other packs was a sign that the pask was divided and. His anger had simmered down and now he simply knew they would need a more organized plan for addressing issues in the future, so they would both need to find out how the other worked "Was it really necessary to call me out in front of another pack after the issue had been resolved?"

Re: Settling pack dominance
Shine didn't answer his question at first, instead keeping her gaze focused in front of her. After a minute of silence, she responded just as calmly, if not more so. "You are inexperienced in how to handle things. You were acting rash and foolish in front of them." She looked down to him. "I am sorry to have called you out so directly, but it was necessary to show that IcePack wolves are not bullies, as we may appear to some." She looked ahead again. "You have much to learn before you can handle these things on your own." She then gave a rare smile. "And it did not show a divided pack. It shows that we know when to lead, and when to listen."
Re: Settling pack dominance
Cordath thought for a moment then nodded realizing she was right "You're right..." He looked up to the sky and seeing the sun was close to setting "You lead the conversation next time, i'll stick to bashing heads for now" He added "see you tomorrow" before heading away from the Alpha den towards his own den

Re: Settling pack dominance
Shine watched him leave, before remembering something. "Cordath." She called to catch his attention. "You are an alpha now. Temporary or not, you get an alpha's den." She turned to walk away, beckoning him to follow. She stopped only a few den-lengths away at another hole in the wall. She stared at it for a few moments, then shook herself. "This is the alpha male's den. It's larger than yours. Feel free to do with the space what you will." She answered, then turned to go.
Re: Settling pack dominance
Cordath laughed a little, how could he forget that {Maybe I thought if I went to sleep this would turn out to all be a bad dream} when Cordath sat down it was clear he was not at home here even to shine, to Cordath being alpha felt like a joke, perhaps this was why he reacted the way he did when the other alpha had  challenged his ability to lead, because he had been right. Cordath laughed a bit to himself a troubled dry laugh.

Re: Settling pack dominance
Shine offered another rare smile. He seemed to have gotten over their dispute about calling him out. She turned to leave, and returned to her den. Then her thoughts settled on the other wolves. Her alpha and betas. MoonPack's missing members. The other pack's possibly missing members. She sighed as she settled down, settling her head on her paws. She closed her eyes, trying to put it out of her mind.

(Ok so i've come up with some more backstory about Cordath that may help advance the story, but that will come later for now i suggest a time skip to morning, and after that i'll hopefully think of something)

Re: Settling pack dominance
Morning comes and shine is woken up to the sound of cordath dragging a predator past her den toward his to have for breakfast. Mountain lion by the sound of the corpse. Cordath had been out hunting for most of the night, he had not slept well. although that was not unusual for him. Insomnia was a rampant problem for his bloodline, or rather many wolves would see it as a problem Cordath just saw it as a way to be more productive. As he passed by Shines den he decided to offer the one to whom he was newly equal, at least for the time being. So he stuck his head into her den and asked "hungry shine?"

Re: Settling pack dominance
Shine was awake before she heard Cordath's voice, or the dragging noise. She looked up at the brown corpse and stood in response to his question. "No need to eat in here. We can go organize the pack. And you can learn some things." She said, offering another smile. She stepped out of her den and grabbed a foreleg, dragging it near the center of the camp. Only a few other wolves were up. Not enough to organize patrols or hunting parties. She settled down to eat.
Re: Settling pack dominance
Cordath followed her, and settled down on the other side of the mountain lion "So why did you approve me over the other male sentinel, or has he gone missing too?" he asked before digging in. Suddenly wondering something. if he had been training most of his life in case he had to take over the position as alpha, and was the same age as her, and didn't know nearly as much about being an alpha as her. {Oh god we really need to improve our sentinel program...} he thought to himself

Re: Settling pack dominance
Shine shrugged as she chewed on a piece of the meat, and took a moment to swallow it. "You seemed the best fit." She answered, taking another bite.
Re: Settling pack dominance
"Best fit in what respect?" Cordath asked casually biting into his kill

Re: Settling pack dominance
Shine swallowed again. "Needed someone who was different from me. Needed a new perspective on things. You were the most different and best fit for it." She answered, then looked around. A few more wolves were up. Still not enough.
Re: Settling pack dominance
Cordath thought ion this for a bit as he ate then nodded, it made plenty of sense to him "you wanted a more aggressive personality to deal with the less reasonable voices out there, while you remained a calm and steady figure. but not so pig headed as to be unreasonable?" Cordath guessed

Re: Settling pack dominance
Shine nodded. "You got it." She looked up at him. "You're smart too." She offered a slight smile. She looked up at him, then looked over at a fight on the other side of the clearing. Her eyes narrowed. "You wanna handle it."
Re: Settling pack dominance
Cordath nodded relieved that he could do. Cordath got up and strode over to the fighting wolf "You two break that crap up!" He ordered sharply

((Being lazy.))
Shine watched him smiling slightly. Not how she would have handled it, but it worked. This is why I picked you. Some situations need something different from how I would do it. She turned back to her meal, waiting for the other alpha to return.

Re: Settling pack dominance
He soon settled the pair of fighting wolves down by instilling in them fear followed by a calmer dialogue he made sure it wouldn't happen again and made no enemies. He then returned to the other alpha and resumed eating.

Shine nodded to him over the meal. "Good way to deal with it. You can organize patrols when the other wolves are out here as well." She said, looking up at the other wolf. She blinked, then turned her head to look around again. Almost everyone was up.

Re: Settling pack dominance
Cordath stands up when all the wolves have gathered as he stands his presence is such that all eyes turn to him "All right listen up, some of you may have already heard what has happened to the alpha, and we all have work to do so i'll keep this brief." He pauses and looks around to make sure everyones eyes are on him "Upon consulting with our allies and investigating the disappearance of the previous Alpha, and the betas we have come to suspect an ancient and demonic foe. Now I'm not a shaman so I can't tell you exactly how powerful this thing is. I do however know that any creature with the power to kill some of our best wolves is not something to be trifled with. To that end we'll be keeping a tighter schedule around here and increasing our patrols" He proceeds to lay down rules for increased and larger patrols. and schedules for what times their hunting parties will be permitted to leave and when they will return to camp.
Cordath pauses looks around to gauge their mood. He sees in the eyes of some of his wolves they are afraid, and while he needed them cautious he also needed them ready to fight, so he continued in a firm and strong voice "Our foe is dangerous" he meets the eyes of each of his warriors and hunters speaking in a tone to draw out their pride and confidence. "But so are we. We are wolves, we are fighters, and hunters. We are predators, and I will be damned before I let some demon make us cower in our dens like toothless prey!"

((Yup. Still lazy.))
Shine watched with extreme approval as her fellow alpha took over. She gave another smile into her meal. They were becoming more common. She looked over as a few late wolves strolled out in time to hit the end. Shine tucked into the food again, listening as he organized the patrol.

Re: Settling pack dominance
(Lol)
Cordath proceeded to organize, mixed hunter and Warrior patrols a bit larger than normal patrols and with orders to report back, if they find signs of the creature not to engage it alone. As well as setting up hunting groups more rigid windows in which the groups can hunt. At the end he turns to shine "Can you think of anything else we might need?"
